Gilbert and Sullivan - never knowingly undersung!

For the first time since we arrived in Cornwall, the weather is less than brilliant. Ben and Duncan abandon their plans to go surfing and we all stay indoors.

Duncan, Suzi, Ben, Sarah and Patrick embark on a long and punishing game of 'Risk' instead while Jan puts dinner together. Despite her protestations that she cannot cook, she produces an excellent onion tart.

Suzi achieves world domination just in time for us all to head off to Truro for the first night. We all feel strangely downbeat considering it's an opening night and agree that it's because it's not 'our' show. However, the excitement builds as we get into our costumes. As the MD of Duchy doesn't warm up the chorus, we invade the Spriggens' dressing room with some members of the Duchy Chorus to do our own GLOC warm up, with our traditional clapping energiser.

The opening night goes extremely well. The problems we had with the choruses during the dress rehearsal do not reappear. The audiences is extremely appreciative (there are about 800 of them!) and whoop and holler as the soloists take their bows.

We retire to the Kasbar with other members of the cast. David, Helen C's boyfriend, has come down to Truro to see the show and we bombard him with questions - "What does this bit look like?" "What did you make of that?". He tells us that he was extremely impressed with the production but thought Act 2 could have been livened up with a comic patter song...........

Absolutely knackered so an early night for everyone.
