Grosvenor Light Opera Company

Gilbert and Sullivan - never knowingly undersung!

Not in the best shape to head out to Redruth for another rehearsal at our favourite venue, but we are professionals and we do it anyway.......

Today, all the soloists are present for the first time and we do a full run through of the whole show. We had already met Jon Hobbs, who plays Pascoe, at a previous rehearsal. He is extremely kind and friendly and brilliant in the part. We get to see Cheryl Brendish (Thirza), Louise Merrifield (Avis) and Ian Yemm (Mark) do their parts for the first time, and are all bowled over by how good they are. No acting required today in order to be engaged with the action - we're all agog......

Three of the soloists are professionals brought in by Duchy, and they are staying in Perranporth as well - Ian, Paul (Lawrence) and Martin (Harvey). We meet Martin later in the Watering Hole before heading out to Redruth again for a fireworks display. Slightly bizarrely, the venue is a Tesco's car park but the display is excellent - as is the mulled wine that Helen P has made for us all.

Helen's turn to cook tonight - chilli with rice and salad, followed by chocolate bananas and whisky plums.

We have a surprise visit from David and Ian, who appear to have been passing and decide to pop in. More parlour games, albeit of a more decorous variety. Miss Tilly from Appletree Cottage in Wootton Bassett likes spoons but not forks, apparently........
